Structured Matrices in Signal and Image Processing

The emphasis of the project will be the interplay between basic research in structured numerical linear algebra and real applications in image restoration, with special attention to image deblurring or images obtained by X-ray emission.

Indeed, many structured matrix tools developed in previous researches can be applied to concrete problems, in order to obtain significant advancements in terms of more efficient algorithms (computational cost, storage space, etc.) and more accurate modelling, thereby providing high quality computed solutions.

On the other hand, new applications in biomedicine, astronomy, civil engineering, etc., often suggest new theoretical and computational issues in structured numerical linear algebra that deserve further attention.

In this context, we want to combine the experience in the numerical linear algebra field of some components of the project with the expertise that other participants possess in real applications, result of well established collaborations with biomedical and astrophysics research centers.
